Purchasing PCs and Components

Having now determined what your requirements are, designed and specified your system, and researched and selected the best vendor on the planet, you are ready to proceed with buying your PC! But wait, not so fast; you didn't think I was done with you yet, did you? :^) Well, you've done all the hard work, but there is still some important material to cover that relates to how best to make your purchase.

This section covers all of the issues that are related to actually proceeding to buy PCs and components. As such, it covers the decisions you need to make, and the problems you may have, from the time you commence the actual order until the time the box shows up on your door. I first discuss order timing, and then cover both delivery and payment methods, so you know what your choices are. I then discuss the particulars of actually placing the order. I conclude with an extensive discussion of common vendor problems and provide suggestions and ideas that may help you resolve them (mismanaged vendor problems are epidemic in the computer industry, and many consumers don't know that they have rights and recourse when there is trouble.)
