Enhance and Streamline the Boot Process

This section discusses a few tips that you can use to optimize the PC's boot process. If you reboot the machine a fair bit, you will probably find yourself sitting and waiting for the machine to boot up a lot, and probably growing impatient doing so. This includes techniques for speeding up the boot process, as well as controlling the order in which devices are selected for booting.

Warning: Making the boot process too fast can cause problems with some hard disks when they try to boot cold (when the PC is first turned on). This happens because the drive may not be up to speed and ready to go at the time that the BIOS needs to read it. If this happens, you will need to change back any settings you used to speed up the boot process.
