Old Site Updates - November 1998

November 26, 1998:

  • Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Don't eat too much. :^)
  • Disk Edition Update: I am still hoping to have the newest edition ready within about 7-10 days. I will be suspending filling orders until it is done, both to give me more time to do updates, and also because I presume everyone ordering at this point wants the latest disk. Thanks everyone!

November 23, 1998:

  • Current Plans: Hi folks... In case you are wondering, I am working on the next version of the site right now, and also the next version of the Disk Edition. I expect both to be complete by about the end of next week. Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends!

November 9, 1998:

  • Getting Back To Normal! Hi Everyone! Well, my six weeks of relative hell are winding down, and life is getting back to some semblance of normalcy. Thanks to all of you for your patience.
  • Dedication to the Cause: I have big plans for the site starting in the next few weeks. One big thing that is changing regarding this site is my approach to it. I originally started this site as a "hobby", and in many ways it still is: I enjoy working on it. But a hobby means having only a few hours a week to try to get things done--on top of all the admin stuff. (This is a large reason why I haven't done as much content improvement as I had hoped.) I very much want this site to succeed, and to this end, I am now focusing on this site full time, starting this month. This means more updates, more tips, more current content for you to enjoy. Of course, as my main concentration, I will be more dependent than ever on support, especially from sponsors. If you know of anyone who might be interested in sponsoring this web site at very reasonable rates, please contact me. And of course, all of you who get the Disk Edition, or purchase items from my sponsors, provide a very important source of support for the site also! Thanks!
  • Disk Edition News: The current version of the Disk Edition is April 1998. Since I have been so busy with Real Life [tm] over the last six months, the content of the Disk Edition is still pretty close to what you see here on the web site. However, it is time for an update and now that I have some time, I plan to put out a new edition in December. At the same time, the price for the Disk Edition will rise (prices for the current April 1998 edition will remain as they are until the new edition is put out). The reason for the price increase is simple: my costs are going up, up, up! In fact, the original pricing I created for the Disk Edition was done before I had any real idea of what was involved in doing this, and I actually thought I would have had to adjust prices long before this (it's been a full year). Note: as a gesture of fairness to those who purchased the December 1997 or April 1998 versions expecting updates at the price I quoted then, I will honor the old prices for updates ($15 CD-ROM; $8 download) for the December 1998 version to those customers. (New prices for updates will apply as of the version following the December 1998 one.) Thanks to all of you who support the site.
