About the Author
My name is Charles Kozierok and I'm the Webslave of The PC Guide. (Webslave? Not Webmaster? If you have to ask, I can't really explain it. :^) ) I'm 34 years old (chronologically anyway) and live in southern Vermont. I am married to a wonderful (and oddly patient) woman named Robyn, and have two young sons named Ryan and Matthew.
I have been involved with computers for around 20 years now. My first computer was an Apple ][ (which I think some family member of mine still has around somewhere.) I started out programming in BASIC and 6502 assembler (well, I didn't really have an assembler, I did it by hand.) My first accomplishment was a program for drafting printed circuit board layouts, which I wrote in 1982. Since then I have worked in various areas of the software and hardware side of the computer world. Despite this web site, more of my time has been in software than hardware. I've dabbled with PCs for years but got into them in a big way in 1995.
I have a Bachelors of Applied Science from the University of Waterloo (Ontario, Canada), and two Masters degrees from MIT, one in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and the other in Management. These are the products of my stay in MIT's Leaders for Manufacturing program. I am also Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) from APICS. The PC Guide is now my sole concentration; I earn my livelihood through the site and related writing endeavors.
Between the site, my family and work around the house, I don't have much free time any more. I like to cruise USEnet, where I sometimes spend time answering questions, especially on alt.comp.hardware.pc-homebuilt. I am into contemporary instrumental and world music; one of my favorite groups is Ancient Future. I enjoy playing tennis, when I can, and am a baseball and football fan (though not nearly as much as I used to be). I am also into photography, especially nature photography.
You may be able to find me sometimes on The PC Guide Discussion Forums...
