Tips Of The Day For March 1999

Tip Of The Day For March 21, 1999: Never use any file utilities on your PC unless you are absolutely sure that they are compatible with your specific operating system version. For example, disk utilities designed for the original version of Windows 95 should never be run on a Windows 95 OEM SR2 system, nor a Windows 98 system.

Tip Of The Day For March 7, 1999: There are a lot of good mail order companies out there, and unfortunately, a few bad ones. Here's one way to avoid getting "burned" when ordering mail order: check out the company at http://www.ResellerRatings.com. This site lists ratings for various PC-related mail order companies. Be sure, when checking out a reseller, to read the comments made by past customers, and don't just look at the company's numerical score. The comments are where you will learn what exactly the complaints (or compliments) are about the firm; for example, if a company has the (illegal and unethical) practice of charging credit cards for out-of-stock items.
