Tips Of The Day For November 2001

Tip Of The Day For November 10, 2001: Many PC enthusiasts find having a multimeter in their personal tool kit very useful. A multimeter can be used to inspect wiring for shorts or other problems. They can also check the voltage of batteries to see if they are worn out, check if fuses have blown, and so forth. Inexpensive multimeters can be had for under $10 at electronics stores; fancy ones cost much more of course. :^) Be sure to read the instructions before using a multimeter. Note that multimeters are also useful for testing live equipment such as power supplies, but this is not a good idea unless you have been specially trained in how to do this safely.
