We currently have 3 PCs running online via a router, one of the PC users has inadvertantly caught a very nasty series of viruses and malware. It's to the point where his whole system has been hijacked, his background has changed on his desktop, he can't open Task Manager and is having other various problems. My question is, if this is an active hacking, what are the chances that this problem may spread to the other computers connected to the router along with the infected one?

I'd un plugg it from the network/ internet and run Hijack this. Save it, re-plug, come here and post it. Check the experts reviews from a different pc then.

Some infections will go after the whole network... As suggested, disconnect this one from the network until it is cleaned up and use other computers to communicate with us here to do the cleaning... What tools have you run so far??

well the PC was disconnected from the router and anit-virus/spyware check were run using HJT, AVG Anti-Virus, and SpyBot S&D. The Virus appeared to have corrupted the Task Manager as it couldn't be brought up and a search for the folder containing it came up empty. We reset the PC to a time before the infection and redid the scans, and have since removed any suspicious/malicious programs/files from the PC. To my knowledge it is working fine, but it's not my PC and I haven't heard any yelling about it since. Thanks for the info and reassurances.
