Howdy folks,

I'm trying to setup a wireless network and I've bought a wireless router (Linksys WRT54GS). I've connected the wireless router to my PC (Win XP) using an ethernet cable, and run through the router setup up procedure. The aim of this is to be able to access files & folders on the PC from my laptop (which has built in wireless adapter).

I've run through every possible networking setup procedure on both the PC & the laptop, and I've shared folders on the PC, but I'm not there yet!

So, how do I set up Win XP to be a network, and how do I get each of the computers (PC & laptop) to see eachother, and access files on eachother?

Also! I have fixed wireless broadband which connects into the ethernet port on my PC. I have disconnected it from my PC and fed it into the router (standard ethernet port on the router) but the broadband signal isn't getting through the router. Can anyone tell me how to configure the router with fixed wireless broadband?

Any help much appreciated!

Thanks,

LJ

Probably a permisision problem. Depends on your OS's as to what you need to do. Here is a good guide to understanding your issues.

Don't even worry about the network until you get the router and modem speaking to each other.

1) Step one: Connect the PC to the cable modem and get on line. Once you do go to the command prompt and type ipconfig. Note the IP address. DO NOT post it here

2) Step two: Re-setup the modem/router and PC. Type http://192.168.1.1 and press enter in your browsers address bar. Click on the status page and the IP address should be similar to what you got in step one. If not. I would start by checking the cables and lights on the modem and router and then let me know what they say.
