I fix a lot of Malware related trouble with machines running Windows XP and previous Micro$oft OS's, nobody has come to me as of yet with Windows Vista.
But when they do I want to know how to proceed, what tools work with Vista, and is the cleaning procedure pretty much the same?I'm in the process of ordering a copy for my spare machine (As I don't plan on using Vista myself...ever) so as I can get myself familiar with the OS.
A list of usable programs and tools for Vista would also be great.

There are a lot of people asking the same question and not a lot of answers yet... So far it appears that a lot of the same tools work, but we don't know if they are thorough or not...
By the way, what is the link to AWG in your signature?? I tried going there and got a blank page... I use NoScripts, so I imagine that scripts need to be enabled to see it and that worries me...

It depends. My mom's new laptop has Vista (x86), and everything runs fine in terms of AVG, Spybot, and Ad-Aware. On my test machine running Vista x64, nothing runs. AVG Free doesn't support 64-bit OS's, and Spybot and Ad-Aware refuse to install.
FYI: I also get a blank page. The forum softwary probable requires Javascript to run... and like Budfred I'm reluctant to allow it to run

The link opens right up in IE but didn't in FF. It's a gaming chat-like forum similar to here
As for 'Tools for Vista',,
Is a 'Circular File' actually a tool??? :p

That's my board, it runs on Invision so that needs to be allowed for it to work properly (Like I allowed this board) and I would take a guess that it's the domain that is giving you all trouble, I also use noscript and I have the domain (.co.nr) allowed.
Besides, why would I have anything malicious in my signature?
Moving on, does the likes of hijackthis, combofix, smitfraudfix etc run and work on it?And do on-line scanners still do the job?

I don't think you would have anything intentionally malicious in your signature, but you may not always be aware... If it is your forum, I am not concerned...
I know HJT runs on Vista, someone posted a HJT log from Vista a couple of days ago here... I know the writers of ComboFix, SmitfraudFix and other tools are on top of the change to Vista and will be revising their programs as the knowledge of how it works evolves... Hopefully the bad guys are not up to speed on it yet either, so we should have a little time to adapt... Also, Vista has a number of security measures built in (some rather draconian), so that should provide some breathing space as well... Head back to Boot Camp to keep up with evolving information...

AVG anti-virus will run on Vista. They just recently released it. Also Ad-aware will work. You have to make sure that you get the latest one. My biggest problem has been to get my printers and scanners working.

Thanks for all your help and and input.
My copy should be here mid week so I can get cracking properly then, meanwhile...it's back to researching, and I will definitely be heading over to boot camp again, thanks Budfred.

AVG does support 64-bit, but not in the free version. I just tested it again to make sure.
