I have just relocated to rural Manitoba (Canada) where MTS High-Speed internet service is not yet availabe. I am currently on MTS Dial-Up service and it is too damn slow to suit me.

I have just got connected with Star Choice Satellite TV service and they offer a Netscape Accelerator for $16.95/month. It says that it is up to 19X Faster than Dial-Up and that it is a special offer for Star Choice customers.

My computer is a Dell desktop with XP Home SP2.

Can anyone tell me if this accelerator does the job that it claims to do.

Thank you.

Actually the "internet accelerator" involves the use of a cache on your PC of some of the pages previously viewed so the page content does not completely load from the Web each time.
A bit of a rip-off since you are providing the storage on your PC and they bill extra for this while providing the exact same speed as any other provider. Quite profitable for them though.

If it makes you feel happier with the apparent increase in speed, there is nothing wrong with it though.
