Samsung’s upcoming wireless earbuds, the Galaxy Buds 3, have been the subject of numerous leaks in recent weeks, and the latest one might be the most revealing yet. 

Images obtained from SamMobile showcase a pair of earbuds and a charging case that showcase a departure from the design of the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2. The overall aesthetic appears considerably more modern and bears a resemblance to Apple’s AirPods. Perhaps Samsung has been taking notes?

Awaiting official confirmation

While official confirmation from Samsung is pending, these images align with previously leaked information, lending evidence to the idea that this is indeed the final design direction Samsung has chosen. As rumored earlier, the distinctive “bean” form factor has been swapped for a more elongated design, featuring stems on the earbuds. This radical shift in design brings the product much closer to, dare we say, Apple’s AirPods. This move not only brings a modern aesthetic but also suggests potential improvements in usability, with rumors hinting at the stems being used for playback controls.

Overdue an upgrade

The Galaxy Buds 2’s release dates back to August 2021, making the Galaxy Buds 3 somewhat overdue. During this period, several competitors have launched their offerings, putting pressure on Samsung to keep pace with the leaders in the wireless earbuds market. Leaks suggest significant improvements in sound quality and the return of active noise cancellation for the Galaxy Buds 3. There have even been reports of the Galaxy Buds 3 appearing in graphics within Samsung’s own apps. An interesting easter egg for any keen fans to seek out.

While specifics regarding technical specifications remain scarce in this latest leak, the apparent origin of the images – an online retail website – suggests that the official launch of these earbuds could be imminent. Rumors point to July 10 as the unveiling date for the Galaxy Buds 3, alongside a possible Galaxy Buds 3 Pro variant. This event might also see the introduction of other Samsung products such as the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Watch Ultra, and Galaxy Ring.
