We can expect to see a glimpse of a new Beats by Dre product next week, after a new posting on X likely highlights the unveiling of a new Beats Pill. The ad, featuring LeBron James and Lil Wayne (via the speaker), was posted recently on X – and even though it’s only 16 seconds long, it tells us everything we need to know about the Beats Pill.

The tagged accounts are that of Lebron James and Lil Wayne, but the important thing is the date: 6/25. This points to a full-fledged announcement on the 25th June. What this means in terms of a release date is unclear at the moment, but we won’t have long to wait.
Beats Pill details
We’ve had some previous leaks of a new incarnation of the Beats Pill in the rumor mill for some time now. A Beats Pill mention was found in the iOS 17.5 code in May, followed by leaked images shortly after. French leaker Arsène Lupin posted images to X highlighting the new model, which gives some insight into the Beats Pill’s new design – that the trailer has now somewhat confirmed.
The Beats Pill is set to be larger but lighter, focusing on an improved soundscape. Internally leaks have suggested that the tweeters have been angled to prevent blocking, and a new woofer will provide deeper, more powerful bass. And though the leaked image highlights the pill having a small fabric loop for comfortable carrying, the one in the teaser doesn’t seem to – though that could merely be due to the angle of the shot and the placement of the Pill: with the furthest edge being unseen.
Another unseen element that the marketing doesn’t mention is the RRP: Beats by Dre are a premium brand, often more expensive than technically “better” models from companies like Sonos or Bang & Olufsen. As such, we’re expecting a premium price tag to come with the Beats Pill, especially if it’s being marketed as a next-generation speaker. The last Beats Pill was discreetly discontinued by Apple in 2022, which was speculated to be in regards to avoiding competition with their native Home smart speakers. But now that the Apple HomePod range has also been largely halted, perhaps we could see a medley of the Beats Premium brand with Apple smart speaker features.
Either way, this new announcement from Beats by Dre is a curious one, and we’ll be keeping an eye on the launch to see whether the new Beats Pill is worth the wait – and the money.
